Where
it all began

Jack
and Mary Garrett moved to Danbury, Texas in 1936 after they bought
land to farm rice and raise Brahman cattle. The ranch had never been
farmed and was bought for $10 per acre. The land eventually paid for
itself in five years. In 1943, Jack Pappy built the Danbury
Rice Dryer with some help from WWII prisoners of war. In 1944, he
bought his first combine for $12,000 and used it for 20 years before
selling it for $8,000. Mary Garrett passed away January 2004. Jack Garret passed away December 2005.
Jacko will tell you his parents have been his biggest inspiration.
He shares with his mother her tremendous spiritual faith, while his
father has taught him the value of hard work. |

Today,
Garrett Farms is still located on a portion of the land that was bought
in 1936. Jacko and Nancy Garrett manage the farm with the philosophy
as a man soweth, so shall he reap. (Gal 6:7) This firm
philosophy has helped Garrett Farms grow to new heights and achieve
goals that never seemed possible. The business has grown because of
Jacko and Nancy's hard work, dedication and the willingness to invest
in the future. The business has been successful because of the quality
people who make up the Garrett Farms Team and the loyal customers
who appreciate and benefit from the highest quality seed in the industry.
